About The Screen Savers

SHOWNAME Current Logo The Screen Savers covers everything from gaming and technology news to the latest mods, gadgets, movies and DVDs. Airing live every weekday, TSS features a daily guest, usually from a geek-culture genre, as well as cool links and software. Hosted by two Kevins and a Sarah, expect lots of humor and geek jokes and you also might learn a thing or two.

Hosts

Sarah Lane
Sarah Lane first joined TSS in when it was on TechTV and continues providing such segments as "Gems of the Internet" and "Damn Good Downloads". She's romantically involved with counterpart Kevin Rose and isn't against giving him (and Kevin P) a kick in the pants when he deserves it. Her blog is at sarahlane.typepad.com.

Kevin Pereira
Kevin "Captain Immy" Pereira was previously the Production Assistant for G4TV.com and worked his way up the ranks, eventually coming to host Pulse, Arena and now TSS. Kevin is an avid gamer but contrary to popular belief is not a dunce when it comes to technology either. Like many G4 hosts, Immy previously hosted a gaming internet radio show called "Pointless Audio" and hosts his blog at kevinpereira.com.

Kevin Rose
Kevin Rose is the resident hacker on TSS and does many segments on mods and Dark Deals. Rose also hosts his own hacking internet show, the broken. His blog is at kevinrose.com.

History

TSS has a long and VERY controversial history. A long running fanfavorite on TechTV, TSS recieved a new set and a lost a few members, most notably, Leo Laporte and Patrick Norton, longtime TechTV hosts, did not make the transistion from TechTV to G4. Newcomer Alex Albrecht was brought in to cohost with surviving TSS members Kevin Rose, Sarah Lane and Yoshi. However after only a few months, G4 uprooted most of TSS's staff, including Albrecht and Yoshi and began retooling the show. For nearly a month TSS was MIA, until late November when it returned with current hosts, Kevin P, Kevin R, Sarah Lane and (eventually segment only) Chi-Lan. Much of the staff from the recently cancelled Pulse found new jobs on TSS.

In March of 2005, The Screen Savers changed it's name to Attack of the Show and the TSS name was offically laid to rest. Many long time fans of the show claimed that The Screen Savers had changed so much since it's move from TechTV to G4 that was no longer the same show. G4, apperently agreed and not only changed the name, but also gave the set an overhaul. The show itself, however, stayed the same, with all of the hosts returning as well as most of the regular segments from G4-era TSS. TSS aired for nearly 7 years with over 2000 episodes and at least part of it continues today as Attack of the Show. The final episode of TSS aired on March 18th, 2005.

Tidbits
-The Screen Savers originally had a live audience, however after the cancellation of Unscrewed, G4 did not see it viable to continue booking live audiences for only one show. However it has been speculated that G4TV.com may someday have a live audience...
-The Screen Savers was G4's only live show
-You could interact with the show by logging into the show's chat room and calling in.
-When the show was retooled in Nov '04, Chi-Lan and Kevin P were set as the two central hosts.
-The TSS set was comprised of three sections: the nook, the kitchen (or the lab) and home base.
-Chi-lan, originally a host, eventually moved back to just doing segments for the show (i.e. gadget reviews), beofre quitting entirely just before the show was renamed.
