About Robot Wars

Robot Wars Current Logo Spinning off the fighting robot craze, Robot Wars pits fighting machines against each other in arena style battles. Robots are built and controlled by teams or individuals, amatures and professionals. The RW Arena is littered with traps and obstacles as well as "House Bots" which show no mercy for contestant bots that get too close. Robot Wars is produced in the UK.

Current Hosts

Craig Charles
Long-time Robot Wars host and star of cult-classic sci-fi television series "Red Dwarf," Craig Charles is a well respected TV personality in the UK. Craig also is a talented writer and stage actor and joined Robot Wars in it's second season.

Jonathan Pearce
Pearce is the voice behidn Robot Wars and has commentated for numerous other sports, including the World Cup. Currently Jonathan does work for BBC Radio.

Jayne Middlemiss
Jayne Middlemiss is a longtime member of the BBC family and hosted both radio and TV shows ranging from music to dating shows. She has also done work stateside for VH1 and won TRIC award for Best Satellite and Cable Show with the BBC.


History

Robot Wars is a longtime running show in the UK, running for 7 seasons. G4 aired the last season which was labeled "Seventh Wars." The show originally aired in the US on TechTV and was also converted for American audiences on TNN and later Spike TV. The TNN/SpikeTV versions were stripped down and redubbed with American commentators whereas the G4/TechTV versions were unchanged from their UK counterparts. Currently Robot Wars is no longer in production in the UK, outside occasional specials. Robot Wars also spawned the currently-defunct "Battlebots" in the US.

Tidbits
-Robot Wars is a BBC production
-Robot Wars spinoffs in the US are titled "Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors," "Robot Wars: Grand Champions" and "Nickelodeon Robot Wars."
-House robot "Sir Killalot" was simply called "Sir K" in the Nickelodeon adaption.
