Cheat! returns with New Episodes!

Starting December 8th, it looks like G4 is resurrecting Cheat! as a full half-hour show rather than the short segment in X-Play it had been downgraded to.
A sharp eye in the G4 forums found the new episode listings on G4′s site and the new episodes were confirmed by G4MetalHead (a G4 employee) on the forums. His post follows.

“I can honestly tell you it is true and not a tease. We are currently preparing a number of new episodes and indeed, the schedule is accurate.
The Cheat segment with Kristin Adams will be continuing on X-Play as well.
As for adding new cheats… does anyone remember my recent posts asking for Video Viewer Mail submissions for requested cheats and walkthroughs? :)
We are putting together this completely new viewer requested segment for this run of the show. I will tease you a bit and say we have fulfilled requests for help with LittleBigPlanet Geometry Wars 2 and Gears of War 2.”

The last time a full-episode of Cheat! was produced was back in April of 2007. The new episodes will presumably still be hosted by Kristin Holt (who now goes by Kristin Adams).

Cheat!

cheat_new.jpg

For the gamers who just can’t beat that boss, Cheat! highlights codes, tips, and walkthroughs for gamers. Each episode highlights a different current release, although past episodes have focused on multiple games. Cheat! also logs all their codes on G4′s website for easy access after the show has aired. Often times Cheat! will give full walkthroughs for certain games as well as ways to exploit glitches, since not all games come with codes preloaded. Cheat does not, however, cover GameShark or Action Replay codes or ways to cheat in online games.

Status
-Reruns of Cheat! are not currently airing.

Hosts
kristin_holt.jpgKristin Holt Backup singer for Lindsey Lohan, Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and American Idol finalist, Kristin Holt is what you might call a jack of all trades in the entertainment biz. In addition to hosting Cheat! and occasionally hosting Attack of the Show, she is also the lead singer for the band “Stranger Days” and does hosting on Verizon’s V-Cast channels.
Previous Hosts
cory_rouse.jpgCory Rouse

In addition to being the Original Cheat, Cory Rouse is also an accomplished comedian, musician and is a self-proclaimed nerd. Like Blister host Bill Sindelar, he has toured with Wayne Brady and plays the guitar in a bluegrass band called “The Dust Bowl Cavaliers.” Check out his MySpace and his band’s MySpace.

cheat_1.gifHistory

When it began in 2002, Cheat was hosted by “The Original Cheat”, Cory Rouse. Cheat also saw it’s first overhaul in the fall of 2002 when it became “Cheat! Pringle’s Gamer’s Guide” and saw a new intro and logo featuring 100% more potatoes and the Pringles logo. Lots of episodes were filmed on location in various arcades and venues that related to the games featured in each episode. Eventually the show returned to just being Cheat! halfway through Rouse’s final season. To start off the new season in early 2005, Cheat! saw a major overhaul including the introduction of new host Kristin Holt and a new logo and look. Rouse was informed that he was being replaced and the show was moving in a different direction. G4 wanted to net an older audience, under Rouse, Cheat! viewers’ average age was 12. In 2007, the average age of Cheat! viewers was reported to be over 40. The show also saw a new set, logo and a few changes to the format. Originally Cheat! detailed several games per episode, however currently the show focuses on one game per episode. The new formated ended it’s run in April of 2007.

In January of 2008, X-Play was relaunched and included Cheat! segments hosted by Kristin Holt. G4 CEO Neal Tiles mentioned that Cheat was not receiving high enough ratings to validate it to continue as a standalone show, but did suggest that Cheat! specials were possible.

In the Winter of 2008, new episodes of Cheat! aired citing better ratings coming from the G4 Rewind block. The new episodes consisted mostly of clips from X-Play segments with a few new segments as well.

Quick Facts
-Cheat! was one of the 13 original shows to premiere with G4.
-Cheat! was the the only show on G4 to be branded with a sponsor in the title.
-When the new Cheat! was unveiled on G4′s website, the new logo originally showed former host Cory Rouse, however Rouse never hosted an episode under the new look.
-Cheat! is the longest running series on G4 and the only survivng launch show.
