AOTS 1000 Aftermath

Incase you missed it, AOTS had it’s 1000th episode extravaganza today. Spoilers ahead!

  • Tom Green smashes the set’s robots
  • Epic failure of world’s first sky-written tweet (@aots 8===D)
  • Office Jesus returns
  • Kevin Rose appears via clip, is still rich
  • Sarah Lane appears live in-studio, runs on treadmill, drinks hot sauce, briefly reminisces
  • Alan Thicke joins the hosts to sing the Growing Paints theme (WTF?)

All in all, it was a good two hours of reminiscing. Heck, they even played a clip of G4TV.com and Arena from Pereira’s early days! Not to mention bringing back Tom Green (whom was the first guest on AOTS, way back when), Sarah Lane and Kevin Rose. It became a little bizarre at points (Growing Pains’ Alan Thicke making out with Olivia Munn, “sky dong” skywriting stunt) and it’s a little disappointing that they marketed the climax of the episode as Olivia Munn’s bra-less audition tape, but such is AOTS (and TV in general) these days.

Missed it? It’s okay, G4TV.com has all the good parts:

AOTS gets Row-Bots, exits Monitor Heads

AOTS has seen a few changes over the past few weeks, most notably their own robots, which debuted today on the show. The robots are part of a set refresh and were custom made for the show by Hollywood special effect artists and feature in-chest monitors and …beer taps. The robots are fully functional and can talk and move.
The four robots will join Olivia Munn and her human counterpart Kevin Pereira bringing the robot-to-human ratio to a dangerous 5 to 1.
Sadly, the introduction of these bots means the removal of my personal favorite set piece, the monitor heads, which were a staple of AOTS for over 2 years. eBay anyone?
