About Cinematech

Status: Cancelled, Not Airing

If you’ve ever considered video games art, Cinematech is your show. Cinematech is a showcase of video game cutscenes, trailers and in-game footage. Be it FMV, real-time or animated, the show takes a no-frills approach with only an on-screen playlist inbetween videos. No hosts, no snappy segments, just games.

History

Cinematech has largly stayed the same over it’s long run on G4. Mostly the show has clips from current and upcoming games, however there are some all-request and theme-based episodes. Being an extremely cheap show to produce, it works well as filler throughout the daytime and has even spawned a spinoff “Cinematech: Nocturnal Emissions,” which airs game footage with mature rated content such as violence and sexual themes. Cinematech got a visual makeover soon after the TechTV merger but continued to air in mornings and afternoons until April of 2008 when it was removed from the schedule with no explanation. The show returned briefly in reruns through the G4 Rewind block in summer 2008.

BTW

  • Cinematech was one of the 13 original shows that launched with the network
