History

Anime Unleashed originally aired on TechTV and survived the transition to G4. After moving over to G4, AU has aired new episodes of old favorites Last Exile and Gad Guard, acquired the rights to air Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. However in March 2006, Anime Unleashed was dropped from the schedule and presumably canceled. Various rumors circulated that the network was trying to get rights to new series but apparently those plans were either canceled or put on the back burner. G4 CEO Neal Tiles explained several times through “Open Source” interviews that poor ratings from anime forced the network to look elsewhere for content, but did express interest in revisiting the show in the future.

• AU airs movies as well as individual episodes of series
• AU was not allowed to air on G4TechTV Canada due to government law restricting them to showing only tech related content. However recently G4TechTV Canada got the green light and began airing “Anime Current” which airs various anime series.
