There’s been a ton of distractions lately, mainly this YouTube video I made which exploded, caused me to lost my job, regain it and then quit. I’ve been making YouTube videos for awhile but no one really took notice until now. I’ve had several Hollywood types call (yeah, I know, over this little video?!) and long story short, I’ve been invited to L.A. in September to pitch further ideas. It’s been a crazy summer.

In the meantime, G4R has totally been rusting out. All is not lost though. I’m looking to find some people to look after the site, keep it updated. If you’re interested, check the thread in the forums. Hopefully the site will be returning to life soon.

Some interesting changes this year, Microsoft’s press conference will not air on G4, as it appears semi-rival Spike TV will has struck a deal to air it (and Microsoft’s Project Natal event) exclusively on Viacom networks. It will, however, still be streamed via G4tv.com along with a few other press conferences not interesting enough to air on TV. Also, instead of doing a half-baked wrap up pre-recorded Friday edition of E3 Live, G4 is just going to show some Ninja Warrior non-stop. I’ll call that a wash.

As trended in the past, they’re also going to try and use E3 to prop up some new shows, including “It’s Effin’ Science” which I’ll throw into the “Not Terrible Looking” G4 shows bucket and they’re also airing a smattering of King of Kong (if you haven’t seen it, then shame on you) and some various movies & episodes of Web Soup.

As much as G4 wants me to be enthusiastic about their coverage of E3, I’m really just excited for the event itself. Lots of new hardware including all the motion controllers, the Nintendo 3DS and I hear there might have some software at this event somewhere too.

Not a whole of news in his post this time. Neal goes over “Epic April” ratings wise, talks a little about their E3 plans (Surprise! They’re covering it.), but most interestingly he lets fly that the #1 best thing to come out of the network in YEARS, Feedback, will air live from E3 on TV instead if it’s typically podcast nesting grounds.

Hopefully this will lead to Feedback regularly airing on TV.

Bloomburg is reporting that Microsoft & a former News Corps president, Peter Chernin are in talks to create an online channel that would broadcast over Xbox Live. The report says that users interested in subscribing would see their XBL subscription rate jump 1 to 2 dollars. The channel would air new content and “reruns.”

While I would love to jump up in the air and yell “OMG GAMING TV IS BACK, HIRE SCOT RUBIN,” I have to step back and reread the article which actually doesn’t state anywhere that it would be a gaming channel. The rumored proposal only mentions that it would target young males… which is something we’ve got plenty of already (*cough*Spike*cough*G4*cough*MTV*cough*MTV2*cough*). While it would be reasonable to assume that there would probably be some gaming shows in there, I probably put money on there at least being a handful of shows about guys who like to drift in their car while snowboarding off a mountain, to appeal that oh-so-precious “douchebag” demographic.

Or maybe I’m just a little cynical. The channel was just proposed in early April, so chances are they won’t have this thing hammered out by E3 (aka NatalFest 2010), so we’ve got a little while to fantasize beforehand.

What do you think? Could this be a real second chance at a true gaming network? Or is it going to be one giant ad for Doritos disguised as content or something?

Former G4 alumni Scot Rubin and Diane Mizota have teamed up to host a new webshow titled “App A Day.” The website’s blurb describes the idea behind the new show:

App A Day TV is a bite size daily video show hosted by former G4tv “It Girl” Diane Mizota and G4tv Co-Founder and Host, Scot Rubin. With the production values of a broadcast quality TV show and the spontaneous irreverent feel of the web, AppAday’s style is fun and conversational, more Talk Soup and less tech review. We’ll discuss the popular, the hard to find, and the most unusual apps in the world.

Mmmm, smells like reunion! The show will presumably be a part of Rubin’s All Games Network, which currently airs 20+ gaming podcasts (along with video game music) in a 24/7 internet radio stream. The first episode is set to air (live, even) on April 3rd at 7PM EST and will start off by covering the launch of the Apple iPad. You can read more about the show at it’s website: appaday.tv

G4 has announced a new show called Campus PD, a reality show our forums unearthed a few weeks ago about cops that patrol college campuses.

“It’s no secret that high energy police shows are very popular among male viewers. With Campus PD, we join real police teams and head to college towns, where the students – and their everyday lives – will prove highly relatable to G4’s core young male audience” said G4 governator, Neal Tiles.

Say what you will about “it’s not game/tech related,” but he’s right. I do enjoy me some COPS and I am a young male.

The show starts December 9th and it’ll even be in HD! I wonder if they’re censor the vomit?
