EP Finally Online, Clips Only

After months of anticipation, EP is FINALLY back online at http://www.g4tv.com/electricplayground/!!! The website looks really slick, although we were hoping for full episodes it looks like it's just clipped up episodes instead.

It doesn't end there: G4 picks up Lost; Major League Gaming

LostG4.jpg
To somewhat out do last week's announcement over Heroes (possibly to lessen the dismay many of us had over it being the "big announcement") or maybe even add to it, G4 has gone ahead and said that is is picking up not only Lost, but Major League Gaming (which has been airing in on G4techTV Canada for awhile now....) as well. Yes, you read right. Gaming related programming on G4.

Read more of the details here. I'm too lazy to type but here's my crappy run down:

  • G4 gets Lost but it will only premiere in Fall 2008 in a 2.0 version
  • Major League Gaming will premiere in November.

So far this year has brought quite a bit in terms of programming to G4. EP will premiere THIS Wednesday, Spaceballs is set to air very soon, and not to mention the 10 X-Play specials, Night of the Tripping Dead Halloween special, and the Ninja Warrior event in November.

Interesting.

Getting Closer! EP Returns this Week

One of the few things G4 fans have had to look forward to the past few months is the return of The Electric Playground. A few weeks ago we reported that EP would arrive in October, now it's even closer to reality as G4 is advertising that the show will return this week. In addition to being on G4tv.com, EP will be available in G4's other faucets including podcasts, On Demand and through G4 Mobile but NOT on G4TV itself. Why, we don't know but hopefully if EP does will it will "graduate" back to the airwaves.

So far there's nothing on the site, but we'll let you know when it gets posted.

Megaton Exposed! G4 gets... Heroes.

heroes.jpg

THIS is what G4 was hyping us for? THIS is the biggest announcement in network history? According to Variety.com, G4 and sister network Mojo (WTF is that?) have acquired the rights to second run episodes of NBC's Heroes. Here's some quotes:

Male-centric cablers G4 and Mojo are no longer holding out for "Heroes."

The networks have scored the coup of their young lives, landing the off-net strip rights to NBC's "Heroes," starting in 2010, as well as same-week repurposing rights beginning later this month.

The sci-fi hit would seem a natural for NBC Universal cabler Sci-Fi Channel, but G4 aggressively went after the package (bringing along HD cousin Mojo, which is partly owned by G4 parent Comcast). As part of the deal, G4 will also produce and run a half-hour live "Heroes" wrap show immediately following its Saturday night repurposed run.

"Heroes" will arrive on G4 and Mojo the weekend of Oct. 27-28, when the cablers air all-day marathons of the show's first season. G4 is also set to run a mini-marathon of the first six segs of its second season on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 5-11 p.m.

"The Post Show," which bows Nov. 3, was pitched by G4 to NBC U, which gave its blessing to use clips and the "Heroes" title. The half-hour will also repeat Sundays at 6 p.m.

"AOTS" host Kevin Pereira and contributor Blair Butler will host "The Post Show," which will include guests, live polling, webcam interviews with fans and other interactive elements.

So there you have it, get ready for a total rampage of Heroes ads and non-stop hyping, G4 style. There is one tiny little nugget in here of goodness, as they mentioned G4 has the rights to air this on their website... so maybe that G4 Online channel is still coming.

EDIT: This was confirmed today on AOTS, there is no online channel, the only announcement they had was Heroes. G4 fails it long, G4 fails it hard.

Kevin Pereira is a PHP King?

Proving that he hasn't been watered down by the likes of E! and Ryan Seacrest, AOTS host Kevin Pereira has redesigned his website/blog. Looks much better than previously and it looks like he might start posting more often as well.

G4 Spits in Our Face, Twice

spit.jpg

When I came home today and saw fourty two (42) emails in my inbox, I figured I'd been porn storm'd only to find out that G4 really, really hates the notion of anyone remembering that their channel was once remotely watchable. As such, they have deleted EVERY SINGLE G4 CLIP we've posted on YouTube.

Got to love that PR department, instead of thinking up ways to save their channel, they're spending all their time deleting clips on YouTube.

Classy.

EDIT: Now they've disabled our Dailymotion account, great. Our videos are still hosted on the site, but we'll have to fix the pages that have embedded video.
