G4 dumps a slew of shows

Now before you go off and running and saying "AOTS is teh canceled!!11", it isn't, and neither is any other major G4 program. Earlier this month, G4 started to pull many of the smaller shows off the schedule. The list below names the shows dropped:

-Action Blast! (essentially Paid Programming, but it was listed as a G4 program)
-Happy Tree Friends
-(G4's) Late Night Peepshow
-Filter
-Ed the Sock's Night Party
Also, in December, G4 dropped:
-Banzai
-Game Makers
-Electric Playground

Eight shows, none of G4's flagship programming. This mainly affects the Midnight Spank late night block, as three of its programs were pulled and the majority of their time slots replaced with Cheaters or The Block reruns.

It's also surprising to see Filter dropped again but it could be on hiatus as there were only 13 or so episodes this season and there's only so much you can rerun them (The same can also go for Banzai which also only had a limited amount of episodes.). As always, stayed tuned to G4 Rewind for any updates.

In my opinion, it seems to me that every time G4 brings on a new show (in this case, The Block, for example), a few other shows quietly get the axe. With Code Monkeys coming up soon, what could be next (if any)?

Also as a note, I complied this list to the best of my knowledge. If I forgot anything, made a mistake, or just screwed up somehow, let me know in the comments.

New, original, gaming content? On G4 USA? OMG!

Yes! It's finally happened, a new G4 show that is a) not a castoff from another network and b) about something we all care about!

From the Feed:
Code Monkeys is an innovative animated comedy from Adam de la Pena, the creator of Minoriteam and a writer on The Man Show and The Jimmy Kimmel Show, that tells the stories of old-school game coders Dave and Jerry, whose wacky, surreal adventures are told through Super Nintendo style videogame art.

14 episodes. This Spring. ABOUT. EFFING. TIME.
Finally a step forward for G4.

Elec Play, Reviews on the Run get Two Year Deal

Once again, the Canadians get all the good stuff.

From the EP/RotR/JD host Victor Lucas:

We have just closed a deal with Rogers and G4TechTV Canada to sign The Electric Playground and Reviews on the Run to them exclusively for the next two years with options for more. This means starting tomorrow our shows will be broadcast exclusively on G4TechTV Canada and (then additionally on other Rogers owned outlets--TBA).

So does this mean we'll see Reviews on the Run and EP on G4? Probably not, seeing as G4TV in the USA is not owned or even part-owned by Rogers. But that's not all!

As part of our arrangement with Rogers/G4TechTV Canada, our company will also be the new production comany [sic] behind Call For Help and Torrent. We'll be making some tweaks to those shows but they'll remain as rich with great information as they already are but now we'll produce the shows out Vancouver and Greedy's HQ.

They go on to say that Call for Help will INDEED be renamed. If any deal in America is announced, we'll let you know, but for now it looks like this is only for our increasingly lucky neighbors to the north.
