Cheat!

For the gamers who just can't beat that miniboss, Cheat! highlights codes, tips, and walkthroughs for gamers. Each episode highlights a different current release, although past episodes have focused on multiple games. Cheat! also logs all their codes on G4's website for easy access after the show has aired. Often times Cheat! will give full walkthroughs for certain games as well as ways to exploit glitches, since not all games come with codes preloaded. Cheat does not, however, cover GameShark or Action Replay codes or ways to cheat in online games.

When it began in 2002, Cheat was hosted by "The Original Cheat", Cory Rouse. Cheat also saw it's first overhaul in the fall of 2002 when it became "Cheat! Pringle's Gamer's Guide" and saw a new intro and logo featuring 100% more potatoes and the Pringles logo. Lots of episodes were filmed on location in various arcades and venues that related to the games featured in each episode. Eventually the show returned to just being Cheat! halfway through Rouse's final season. To start off the new season in early 2005, Cheat! saw a major overhaul including the introduction of new host Kristin Holt and a new logo and look. Rouse was informed that he was being replaced and the show was moving in a different direction. G4 wanted to net an older audience, under Rouse, Cheat! viewers' average age was 12. As of 2007, the average age of Cheat! viewers was over 40. The show also saw a new set, logo and a few changes to the format. Originally Cheat! detailed several games per episode, however currently the show focuses on one game per episode. The last episodes of Cheat aired in April of 2007.
In January of 2008, X-Play was relaunched and includes Cheat! segments hosted by Kristin Holt. G4 CEO Neal Tiles mentioned that Cheat was not receiving high enough ratings to validate it to continue as a standalone show, but did suggest that Cheat! specials are possible.
